Pastimes and Passions

Staff -- School Library Journal, 3/1/1998

We Americans take our myriad leisure activities very seriously. The arena of sports can run the gamut from good-natured fun to highly focused training and competition. The titles below, culled from previous years' Best Books, look at a variety of characters who engage in a variety of single-minded pursuits -- on the field, in the field, and excursions to the "field of dreams." -- LT
