The Clock Ticks on Telecom Discounts for Schools, Libraries

Staff -- School Library Journal, 11/1/1997

An application process for school and library telecom discounts is forging ahead just in time, despite lawsuits by telecom providers that want to kill the discounts and a contentious process of determining how schools and libraries will apply. Applications for discounts are expected to be ready by early November. In the meantime, a draft of the application is available on the Federal Communications Commission's site. By mid-November, an SLC web site may be ready for schools and libraries to file applications. ALA's Office for Information Technology plans to update its web site as details develop.
