Santa Doesn't Shop on the Web?
Staff -- School Library Journal, 1/1/1998
People's need to leaf through a children's book before buying it appears to be hampering sales at Amazon, the Web-based bookseller, according to Mary Engstrom, the company's Vice-President of Publisher's Affairs. Sales of children's titles, art books, and audiobooks are lagging behind other categories, reported the December 8 Book Publishing Report. To help sell these slow movers, Amazon set up a Gift Center that offers recommendations for 12 "kinds" of young readers, from "Animal Lovers" to "Obsessed Kids."
