ALA Seeks Volunteers to Promote Diversity
Staff -- School Library Journal, 3/1/1998
ALA has put out a call for volunteers for the Spectrum Initiative Recruitment Network, which is designed to encourage undergraduates and other potential recruits from underrepresented ethnic groups to consider careers in library and information science. The association is requesting that each volunteer recruit one candidate for a Spectrum scholarship. The project will hold its first training session in June 1998 at ALA's Annual Conference in Washington, DC. For more information, contact Lillian Lewis, Spectrum Staff Liaison, American Library Association, 50 East Huron St., Chicago, IL 60611; (800) 545-2433, ext. 4396; spectrum@ala.org.
