Finalists Named for 1998 National Book Awards

The National Book Foundation has announced the finalists for the 1998 National Book Awards for Young People's Literature. The nominated books, all published in 1998, are: The Secret Life of Amanda K. Woods (Frances Foster) by Ann Cameron; Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key (Farrar) by Jack Gantos; No Pretty Pictures: A Child of War (Greenwillow) by Anita Lobel; A Long Way From Chicago (Dial) by Richard Peck; and Holes (Frances Foster) by Louis Sachar. The winners will be announced November 18.
