Congress on Professional Education Set to Examine Librarian Training

The American Library Association (ALA) will soon examine some of thefundamental issues affecting the education of librarians. During theupcoming Congress on Professional Education (April 30-May 1), 150 delegates will reflect on the overall health of ALA's library education programs and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education-accreditedprograms.
Dr. Ken Haycock, chair of ALA's congressional steering committee, says hehopes the congress will identify the major issues facing library educationand make some recommendations to ALA's executive board. Says Haycock, "The congress will be the first step in a continuing process of improvement."
