"Don't Send Students Back to Library" Columbine Parents Urge
Staff -- School Library Journal, 7/1/1999
A group of parents whose children died in the rampage at Columbine High School want the school to close the library, where the worst carnage occurred.
According to the Denver Post, the parents worry about the psychological impact on students of studying in the room where 10 classmates were shot to death before the attackers turned the guns on themselves.
Though the rest of the school has been turned back over to the district, the library remains sealed. It will be closed when students return in August, and school officials are still determining whether to refurbish the old library or move it elsewhere.
