Time Is Running Out...

May 31 is the applications deadline for two new awards--the Giant Step Award and the Estela and Raul Mora Award. The Giant Step Award, established by School Library Journal and the Gale Group, is an annual award of $10,000 to a school library--or a public library working together with a school--that has made significant improvements in service to students. Guidelines are available on SLJ's Web site (www.slj.com/giantstep.asp) and the Gale Web site (www.galegroup.com/library/lib_advo/giant.htm) or by calling (800) 877-4253. The Estela and Raul Mora Award was established by poet Pat Mora and her siblings in memory of their parents. The award honors a library, school, or REFORMA chapter for an exemplary celebration of Dia de Los Libros/Dia de Los Ninos. The award includes a $500 prize.
