Science Reviews Go Digital
Staff -- School Library Journal, 11/01/2001
Appraisal, the respected review source for young people's science books, has moved online. Subscribers to the quarterly publication will now have access to four online issues a year and will receive an annual CD-ROM version of the journal with a searchable index. Founded 34 years ago, Appraisal reviews each book twice, once by a children's librarian and again by a scientist in the relevant field. According to editor Diane Holzheimer, moving to an online format will allow the nonprofit journal to reach a broader audience and free itself from problems that sometimes caused production delays in the past.
