Updated Athena Released

Meg McCaffrey -- School Library Journal, 2/1/2002

Sagebrush Corp.(www.SagebrushCorp.com) has released Athena 9.1, the latest version of its Windows library automation program, and the upgrade is free to existing users. The new software includes an hourly loan feature, spell checking, the ability to reserve titles in advance and automatic e-mailing of circulation and fine information to patrons. Items can also be circulated for as little as one hour, similar to the procedures in use at university reserve desks.

Eileen Vernon, a librarian at the Virginia Beach Friends School (VA), says version 9.1 has corrected a problem she had with the CD Cataloger component of the previous version. (The CD Cataloger allows librarians to quickly catalog books and materials using available MARC data on CDs updated every three months.)

Athena 9.1 is a free upgrade to existing Athena customers who are up-to-date in their Technical Support subscription. For non-Athena customers, the system is priced from $2,495. For more info, call 1-800-533-5430.
