New Product- Introducing the New, 21st-Century Chalkboard
Meg McCaffrey -- School Library Journal, 3/1/2002
SynchronEyes 2.0 for Macintosh is in some select company. At Macworld Expo 2002 (held in San Francisco, in January), the innovative software product was awarded a "Best of Show" designation, as one of the 14 most exciting new hardware and software products on the market. The computer-lab instruction software, offered by SMART Technologies Inc., enables librarians and teachers to view and control up to 40 Macintosh workstations from a single computer.
SynchronEyes also aims to keep students focused on class material, by providing the teacher with ultimate control. The lock function of the software allows the teacher to clear all student screens, and lock their mice and keyboards with the touch of one button. This Big Brotherish feature can help teachers control students who like to play around with their computers when they should be paying attention. The suggested list price for a single lab is $999. Grants are available for up to 50 percent of the price from the SMARTer Kids Foundation. A free, 30-day evaluation of the product is available at www.SynchronEyes.com or by calling 1-888-42-SMART. SynchonEyes is also available for Windows.
