Nancy Farmer Wins National Book Award

Two-time Newbery Award nominee Nancy Farmer has won the 2002 National Book Award for Young People's Literature for The House of the Scorpion (S & S/Atheneum). Farmer's futuristic novel tells the story about Matteo, the clone of a drug lord who rules the country Opium, which lies between the United States and what is now called Mexico.
