Aileen Fisher Dies

Aileen Fisher, author of several volumes of poetry for children, died in Boulder, CO, on December 2, 2002. She was 96. Her best known works include Runny Days, Sunny Days (Abelard, 1958) and Out of the Dark and Daylight (Harper, 1980). Her most recent book was I Heard a Bluebird Sing (Boyds Mills/Wordsong, 2002).

Fisher, whose poetry frequently dealt with the wonders and beauty of nature, also wrote picture books, plays, and biographies. Several of her books have been selected as American Library Association Notable Children's Books.
