'SLJ,' Greenwood to Launch Administrator of the Year Award
Staff -- School Library Journal, 3/1/2003
School Library Journal will launch its first Administrator of the Year award this fall to highlight the importance of a forward-thinking, collaborative school administrator to the long-term success of the school library. Greenwood Publishing Group will award up to $10,000 in cash to the winners at a special gala to be held during the American Association of School Librarians Conference in October.
"An administrator who has a dynamic, creative working relationship with his or her school librarian undoubtedly presides over a school that is having significant academic success," says School Library Journal Editor Evan St. Lifer. "We need to publicize these success stories and create an awareness among all educators that student learning is enhanced when administrators unleash the instructional potential of the school librarian."
SLJ will feature the winners in its November issue. For details on criteria and additional information on how to submit nominations, go to www.slj.com or www.greenwood.com beginning March 11th. The deadline for entries is June 16.
