If you're searching for some cool projects for middle- or high-school students, ProjectPower, a subscription database service, may be the ticket. The Web-based learning tool offers more than 400 teacher-created projects that are aligned with state standards—ideas for everything from language arts to science projects. ProjectPower is the brainchild of Kids Energy, Inc., a Boston-based provider of interactive learning tools for K–12 educators and students.

ProjectPower is easy to use. Educators enter the desired subject, subtopic, grade level, skills to be taught, and state on ProjectPower's home page. For instance, are you looking for a math/art project on proportion, symmetry, and transformation? Kids can tackle these abstract concepts by studying the artist Picasso and his cubist paintings: simply have them click on "Mr. Picasso Head."

ProjectPower also provides features that let teachers review and keep track of students' work. And there's even a "Teacher Notes" feature that allows educators to share feedback, tips, and suggestions with their colleagues. Prices begin at $199 for a single license.
