Kay Vandergrift, professor at the School of Communication, Information and Library Studies at Rutgers University and founder of the renowned "Vandergrift's Children's Literature Page," and other Web sites, will retire from her academic position in June 2004.

Vandergrift, who has taught at Rutgers since 1985, has served as associate dean of the school since 1998. The Vandergrift's Children's Literature Page, founded in 1995, has won numerous awards and is visited by thousands of people monthly.

"Professor Vandergrift has transformed the study of children's literature for a generation of librarians, teachers, and students," says the Educational Media Association of New Jersey.
