USC Appoints New Library Director

Daniel Barron has been appointed the new director of the School of Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina (USC).

Barron, a former high school media specialist and a tenured professor, has been on the faculty of the USC library school for 27 years. His teaching and research interests include school library media program development, distance education, as well as the education and information functions of libraries. Barron was awarded the 2003 Distinguished Service Award by the South Carolina Association of School Librarians.
