SLJ/Greenwood Grants First Administrator of the Year Award

Edward Gonzalez, principal at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Madera, CA, was awarded the SLJ/Greenwood Publishing 2003 Administrator of the Year Award at an October 24 gala hosted by Greenwood during this year's American Association of School Librarians conference (see "Ultimate Advocate," November 2003, pp. 44–46). Greenwood awarded $2,500 in cash to each of two runners-up and $5,000 to Gonzalez, who was chosen from more than 300 candidates nationwide.
