Seussentennial
You could not, would not want to miss a celebration such as this. Mark your calendars—2004 is "Seussentennial," a yearlong series of events scheduled nationwide to honor Theodor Seuss Geisel's 100th birthday on March 2. There's a 40-city "Imagination Tour," featuring performances of Dr. Seuss stories, readings, school library programs, traveling exhibits of Dr. Seuss's art, new book releases, and more. The celebration is sponsored by Random House Children's Books. For a complete list of activities, visit www.seussentennial.com.
Targeting Libraries
One hundred schools in 27 states have each received $10,000 as part of a $1 million Library of Books promotion sponsored by Target Stores. Last fall, customers who made purchases with a Target credit card were automatically entered in the promotion. The winners, chosen at random, won a $5,000 Target gift card and selected a school to receive $10,000 in library books from Capstone Press, Compass Point Books, and Picture Window Books.
