Amy Schwartz Wins Zolotow Award

Amy Schwartz, author and illustrator of What James Likes Best (S & S/Atheneum), has received the 2004 Charlotte Zolotow Award, which honors outstanding writing in a children's picture book.

The Zolotow Award committee also selected the authors of five honor books: Rebecca O'Connell for The Baby Goes Beep (Roaring Brook), illustrated by Ken Wilson-Max; James Rumford for Calabash Cat and His Amazing Journey (Houghton), Won-Ldy Paye and Margaret H. Lippert for Mrs. Chicken and the Hungry Crocodile (Holt), illustrated by Julie Paschkis; George Shannon for Tippy-Toe Chick, Go! (Greenwillow), illustrated by Laura Dronzek; and John Coy for Two Old Potatoes and Me (Knopf), illustrated by Carolyn Fisher.
