Crowe Aids Bombed School Library
By Staff -- School Library Journal, 6/1/2004
Actor Russell Crowe was so upset about the firebombing of United Talmud Torahs's school library in Montreal (see
News, May 2004 , p. 19) that he called the school's principal and donated an undisclosed amount of money to replace destroyed books. Crowe also sent a message of support to the children. "He wanted to make sure that our students knew that he was thinking about them," school spokeswoman Shelley Paris told Reuters. The library is scheduled to reopen in August.
