Kathy Ishizuka, a contributing editor to School Library Journalsince 2001, has joined the magazine as technology editor. Ishizuka, who has written and edited numerous articles for SLJ, has spent her career as a journalist and writer.
"I am excited about her taking on this new role and have no doubt she will bolster our technology efforts and coverage," says SLJ's Editor Evan St. Lifer.
Previously, Ishizuka was an associate editor for Facts On File, where she edited nonfiction trade and reference titles. She is also the author of The Unofficial Guide to Homeschooling (IDG, 2000), The Quotable Gardener (McGraw Hill, 2000), and middle-grade biographies on John Grisham and Asian-American authors for Enslow Publishers.
Ishizuka replaces Walter Minkel, who helped launch SLJ's TechKnowledge section. Minkel recently joined the New York Public Library's Early Childhood Resource and Information Center, where he coordinates programs for young children and caregivers and manages materials on early childhood education.
