'Holes' Redux

By Staff -- School Library Journal, 12/1/2004

Louis Sachar is coming out with a sequel to his Newbery–winning bestseller Holes (Farrar, 1998). Beverly Horowitz of Random House will edit Small Steps, which she acquired from Ellen Levine, executive vice president at Trident Media Group. The book picks up at Camp Green Lake three years after Holes ended. With five million copies sold in the U.S. and Canada, Holes has been a children's publishing phenomenon and was adapted to the big screen in 2003 with a screenplay penned by Sachar himself.
