Winn-Dixie Hits Big Screen

Kate DiCamillo's 2001 Newbery Honor–winning Because of Winn-Dixie (Candlewick) will hit the big screen February 18. Directed by Wayne Wang, the film will have a star- studded cast with Jeff Daniels as the preacher, Dave Matthews as Otis, Eva Marie Saint as Miss Franny Block, and Cicely Tyson as Gloria Dump. Expect the Hollywood version to remain loyal to the book: DiCamillo helped oversee the screenplay herself.
