Web Site of the Month--Tsunami Web Sites

<p>
The Indian Ocean tsunami disaster has prompted a universal effort among teachers to provide students with information about the event and opportunities to help the victims.</p>
<p>The Discovery Channel Web site is an excellent online source, providing a range of links and visual tools to help explain the science behind one of the greatest disasters in human history. Thanks to an interactive map, students can learn how a small shift in the Earth&#39;s crust set off the deadly waves. The site&#39;s most unique element features an animated series of satellite images that show the path of the tsunami as viewed from space.</p>
<p>The international relief organization Save the Children also offers a wealth of tsunami-related information for teachers, parents, and children. A Teacher&#39;s Toolkit provides classroom activities to help children understand what caused the catastrophe, along with examples of how children can make a difference. &#34;Ten Tips on How to Help Kids Cope with Disaster&#34; addresses the inevitable emotional concerns as our children witness the ongoing tragedy in Asia.</p></span>
