DOE School Library Grants Available

By Staff -- School Library Journal, 3/1/2005

The U.S. Department of Education is now accepting applications for Improving Literacy Through School Libraries grants, the only federal program that funds school library materials and staff development.

But before applying, make sure you qualify—only school districts with at least 20 percent of their students from families with incomes below the poverty line are eligible. Better hurry, the deadline for applications is March 14, 2005, and applicants must use the DOE's electronic applications system to apply. For more information about the program, visit www.ed.gov/programs/lsl/applicant.html.
