Here's to the Library Bride and Groom

Wedding couples who have all the blenders and place settings they need have an alternative—ask guests to donate to their local library. That's what Pat Harris, a board member of the St. Paul (MN) Public Library and his bride, Laura Offerdahl, have done. In partnership with the library Friends group, they created an online wedding registry listing 142 books. So far, guests have contributed $4,200, which will be used to buy children's and adult books for the library's collection. The couple wed April 30, but the site, www.thefriends.org/patharris, will stay up until June 30.
