Spoons Across America creates food—and nutrition-based educational programs for children. The aim of the nonprofit organization, which is partly funded by the James Beard Founation, is to develops in-school and after-school programs to teach kids about nutritious, healthy eating. Its literacy programs, including "Spotlight" and the "The Dinner Party Project," encourage kids to prepare nutritious meals for family and friends and to write about food—it's origins, production, preparation, presentation, cultural applications, and personal meaning—for both school and Spoons Across America's Web site.
