'Charlotte’s Web' Nabs Hollywood Stars

By Staff -- School Library Journal, 10/1/2006

A new version of the E. B. White classic Charlotte’s Web hits holiday movie screens on December 20. Dakota Fanning stars as Fern, and the lead animal characters are voiced by Hollywood headliners Julia Roberts (Charlotte), Oprah Winfrey (Gussy), and Robert Redford (Ike). Accompanying the Paramount flick is Charlotte’s Web: The Essential Guide (DK, 2006). On shelves November 1, it’s for kids ages five to eight and includes facts about animals and farm life, as well as a plot review and film stills. Librarians can also visit www.charlotteswebmovie.com for links to sites about spiders, rats, and pigs.
