If you've got an outstanding school or public library program, Amazon wants to hear from you. In fact, the online retailer will give $20,000 worth of products to three outstanding libraries that are registered on Amazon.com's Library Wish List program, an online tool that's designed to give libraries an opportunity to create "Wish Lists" to receive the books and supplies that they need the most.
"Libraries transform communities, and this is a great program to help some deserving libraries get more of the books and other supplies they need to serve their patrons," says Greg Greeley, vice president of books at Amazon.com. "The enjoyment and pleasure of reading and lifelong learning should be shared by all, and our libraries deserve our support for their mission."
Amazon's Wish for Lit program is now accepting online submissions from libraries in three categories—K-12, academic, and public libraries—and winners will be selected by the American Library Association's Chapter Relations Committee to receive a $5,000 Amazon.com gift certificate, as well as up to $2,000 worth of products from the Amazon Wish List. All of the items will be shipped directly to the libraries to be put to immediate use.
To enter the contest, visit www.amazon.com/wishforlit. The deadline is February 16 and winners will be announced the first week in April.
