Blogs exist for every occupation, from librarian and teacher to brain surgeon. For those signed on to the most difficult job of all, there’s Parent Hacks. Let’s face it, we need all the help we can get, and this site delivers. Compared to the snarky, gossip-laden Urban Baby, Parent Hacks—with its sound, practical advice served up in straightforward entries that still manage to be smart—is the more grownup site. Edited by Asha Dornfest, a freelance writer, Parent Hacks has posted entries on “Sleep (ours and theirs),” “Email for the underage,” and “Recording your kid’s promises with a digital camera,” among other life-enhancing tips, all submitted by ordinary moms and dads, like you and me.

Then there’s Parentography, a recently launched online forum for families on the go, with excursion ideas, ratings, and reviews of family-friendly places. After registering for free, users can interact with other Parentographers and set up RSS feeds on specific destinations. Child-rearing has changed so much since the dark ages—that is before there were blogs.
