If you're still interested in attending National Library Legislative Day, it's not too late to sign up.
Join hundreds of librarians who plan to descend on Washington, DC, on May 1 and 2 to walk the halls of Capitol Hill. The purpose? To attend advocacy and training sessions and convince lawmakers to pass legislation that supports libraries.
Sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), National Library Legislative Day is less than one month away, and the deadline for mail-in registration is April 23. Remember to include a $20 check made payable to National Library Legislative Day along with a registration form. Send your registration form to ALA Washington Office, Attention: Erin Haggerty, 1615 New Hampshire Ave, NW, First Floor, Washington, DC 20009-2520.
To help you prepare for your meetings with legislators, there will be a preconference event called "Introduction to National Library Legislative Day: Why Your Participation Is Important; What to Do and How to Do It." The meeting will provide tips on how to ensure that your presentation makes an impact on those you meet. The two-hour session will be held on Monday, April 30 at the ALA Washington Office, in the first floor conference room, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Walk-in registration will also be available on the day of the event.
