Do you know kids (or teachers) who love the challenge of a good math or logic problem? Each week this site offers three stimulating questions or “brain teasers” for kids in grades 3–4, 5–6, and 7–8. Created by: Houghton Mifflin Publishing, Boston MA. Detour: National Geographic has also compiled some nifty brain teasers, online quizzes about animals, civilizations, and even Harry Potter. Crazy Quiz

This site serves up a weekly quiz designed just for elementary kids. Quiz topics are based on the current issue of Weekly Reader, but you don’t have to subscribe to access the quiz. Created by: Weekly Reader Publishing, Delran, NJ. Detour: Another Flash-based quiz for elementary kids is the “Trivia Archer,” in which students choose topics, shooting-gallery style, and then answer multiple choice questions on history, culture, geography, anatomy, or astronomy (funschool.kaboose.com/fun-blaster/games/game_trivia_archer.html?trnstl=1).

Here you’ll find 10 new questions about geography and world cultures posted each day that are designed to challenge middle and high school students. Created by: The National Geographic Society, Washington, DC. Detour: Elementary and middle grade kids can also test their knowledge of the subject by becoming an agent-in-training for the GeoSpy Agency here. Be sure to have kids print their “Agent Certificate” when they get a perfect score on a quiz.

Harry Potter Wizard Challenge

Would you like to extend the excitement surrounding the final Harry Potter into the school year? This cool, online quiz covering the J. K. Rowling series will challenge even the most avid “Pottermaniac.” After receiving their score, youngsters can challenge their friends by filling out a simple form, which is emailed to their buds. Who’s Who and What’s What

This daily current events quiz is just the thing to get older students (grades 7–12) up to date with what’s going on around the country and the world.
