Have your students finished reading the Harry Potter books? On their next visit to the library, share this site, which offers similar reads. The book list is divided by age group (children, young adult, and adult), and alphabetically by author. There are single titles, as well as series (such as His Dark Materials and Redwall). Created by: The Baltimore County Public Library, Towson, MD. Detour: The folks at the Los Angeles Public Library have also created an “If you like Harry Potter” list, which contains lots of titles not found on BCPL’s list. Together, these two sources can help kids find new books to read and help you order those titles you haven’t yet purchased for your library.

Here you’ll find a whopping 44,800-plus stories written by over 21,000 contributors, all based on elements from Harry Potter. To access a story, click on the “Read stories” link at the top of the page, then click “Find a story/author.” The page that displays will let you search for stories by various criteria from a specific character and age rating (12-plus, 15-plus, mature) to format (i.e., short story, novella, novel) and genre. Be sure to read the introductory information preceding each story, especially the warnings about adult content and spoilers. Not sure which story to read? Check out the reviews on the site. Don’t Miss: For adults concerned about mature content, go to the “Find a story/author” page, scroll down, and check the box that says “Restrictions—Only 'no warnings.’” This will eliminate, as much as possible, those stories. This site is for serious HP fans who love to hear other Potter fans discussing—in detail—all things involving the boy wizard, from the movies to what Daniel Radcliffe and other stars from the Potter films are doing now. One recent podcast —#144—is dedicated to wands and wandlore. Kids can subscribe through iTunes to receive the weekly, free podcast.
