Donnell Collection Available During New Construction

By SLJ Staff -- School Library Journal, 5/8/2008 11:49:00 AM

For those of you wondering about the fate of Winnie-the-Pooh, the children’s collection, and Teen Central once the Donnell  Library Center in New York temporarily closes, here’s some good news: all of the branch’s collections and services will remain available to the public during construction of the new library.

A phased transition in service will begin this spring with some collections finding permanent new homes in other New York Public Library locations. The branch is also planning a temporary site that will provide service until the new library opens.

The children’s collection, including Pooh and friends, will be located at the Humanities and Social Services library at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street. Teen Central will be located at a temporary site in midtown while the new library is being constructed. And over the summer, the Teen Advisory Group meetings and programs for teens, including author talks, gaming, Web 2.0 programs, and summer reading–related activities, will be held at the Columbus Branch. Teen Central staff will also be there to work with young adult library users.
