Have you ever had to work on a group project and one of your partners has trouble locating the important information on a particular Web site page? What if you needed to highlight part of a Web site as part of a discovery project? Awesome Highlighter is the answer.
This tool makes it easy to share Web sites and the key information within its pages. Simply go to www.awesomehighlighter.com and type in the url of the Web site you want to highlight in the box provided at the top, then click “highlight page”. The site then accesses the site and keeps its highlighting toolbar at the top of the page. Read through and highlight the page to your heart’s delight. You can then add a note, save, email, post to Twitter or Delicious, and blog with LiveJournal or Tumblr.
I found the ability to email the link,or to post the Web page really beneficial. This allows you to share your highlighting. For a group project, students can highlight and pass it on to another student, who can then select a different highlighter color, add their highlights and notes, and send it to another student. Great tool for group work!Christopher Bell is the Library Media Specialist and Head of Technology at Castle View High School, (where he influences students to do the worst thing on earth - think for themselves.)
