If your students need a little push to get excited about reading and writing, tell them about the Iron Man Visits Your Library contest, which invites K-8 students to write about or illustrate their favorite superhero or come up with one of their own.
The winner gets an actual visit from the superhero Iron Man to their school or library.
Sponsored by Oliver and Andy's Book Company and the ABDO Group, applicants can create stories, drawings, paintings, animations, sculptures, or anything else they can think of that best describes their superhero and how his superpowers are used for doing good deeds or foiling bad guys.
Educators looking for a fun way to encourage reading and learning should visit www.oabookco.com for official rules, how to enter, and instructions on how to make this a creative writing activity or art project.
Winners will be judged on creativity, originality, and grade level and will receive avisit from Iron Manto his library or school, Marvel Adventures book sets published by ABDO, pizza parties, and more.
The Iron Man Visits Your Library Contest is based on the Marvel Adventures book set published by Spotlight, a division of the ABDO Group. These titles are designed to get reluctant readers hooked on reading with stories about their favorite superheroes.
