  According to report on the web site Ars Technica, Richard Sarnoff, chairman of the Association of American Publishers, said that while publishers didn’t intend to create a monopoly in the market for book search engines or online book sales, the settlement could have that effect.

• Layoffs at Harvard? Skidding Economy Could Claim Books, Jobs
  If it can happen at the nation's wealthiest university, it can happen anywhere. The Crimson reported that talk of job cuts comes after Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Michael D. Smith requested “10 to 15 percent reductions in department and center budgets for the fiscal year beginning in July.”

  In what could stand as one final blunder in a botched construction job at the University of Connecticut Law Library, a Superior Court judge last week threw out the state’s lawsuit against a group of contractors, saying state attorneys erred in filing the suit after the statute of limitations had expired.
