March 25, 2009 - A Perfect Day to Kick Some Butts

-- School Library Journal, 3/4/2009

Kick Butts Day is the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids’ annual celebration of youth advocacy, leadership and activism against tobacco use among kids and young adults. Following the success of their 2008 Public Service Announcement contest, the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids has put out a call for video submissions from grades K-12 on one of five themes, such ‘What’s in a Cigarette” or “Dear Washington.” The final product needs to be 30 seconds, and all submissions must be in by March 13, 2009. The Grand Prize winner receives $500, and the winning PSA will be shown at the annual Youth Advocate of the Year Awards Gala in Washington, D.C. Complete contest information can be found online. The KBD website also includes activity sheets, press release templates, and other helpful classroom and community resources.
