Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock is a video game in which you play a fake guitar while following a screen; almost a guitar version of a karaoke game. It has many popular chart-topping rock songs from bands like Aerosmith, the Killers, Heart, etc. Up to two players can play at the same time, with one playing the fake base and the other on the fake guitar. As the colors come down on the screen, you hit the same color on your guitar, while also hitting the strum button. As you click harder levels, more colors come on the screen and the colors move faster and faster.

It is a very fun and exciting game. You can play many different levels of difficulty, and you can either play the game in career mode (continuous playing with a plot story line) or on quickplay (when you play just one song either by yourself or against another person to get a high score). There are many different songs to choose from and as you advance in the career mode of the game, you unlock more and more songs. The better you get the higher you can make your scores on the top charts.

There is a practice mode in which you can never fail the level. It shows you, step by step, how to use the guitar properly. It really helps you when you are first playing the game and you only click on it when you need it. Otherwise you can skip right past it and just play the game, continuing where you left off last time, as long as you saved it on a memory card.

Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock is a really fun and entertaining game. It helps stimulate your mind, and it gets your mind thinking and takes your full and utmost attention to play. If you like fun and music, then this is the game for you!—Samantha K., grade 12, Floral Park (NY) Memorial High School
