Introducing the Interesting Reader Society (IRS)
-- School Library Journal, 6/3/2009
The Interesting Reader Society (IRS) is a group of teenage volunteers representing many of Larimer County, Colorado's junior and senior high schools. IRS has an ongoing appointment with YALSA as a Teens' Top Ten/YA Galley group for 2009-2010, and now will be part of SLJTeen each issue. How hard is it to get into IRS? To qualify, readers must be:
-In 7th grade through 12th grade
-Male or female
-Tall enough to reach standard book shelves
-Of undetermined weight, but generally considered to be a "heavy reader"
-Known to frequent libraries, bookstores, and paperback racks of local emporiums
-Suffering from a reading addiction, and usually have one or two books with you at all times
-Guilty of ever reading by flashlight under the covers at night when you are supposed to be asleep

We are excited to have this group on board! Thanks to IRS co-advisors and teen services librarians Diane Tuccillo and Sue-Ellen Jones of the Poudre River Public Library District for everything they do for these fantastic teen readers and reviewers.
