-- School Library Journal, 6/17/2009

You hungry, readers? Well put on your aprons and get ready for Cooking Mama 2, Dinner with Friends. In this sequel to the original Cooking Mama, you can prepare some of the meals from the first game and of course, there are lots of new recipes like Mama cookies and Mama’s Cinderella drink.

If you complete the recipe within a certain time, you can receive bonus points. If you get all five bonus points, you’ll get a special prize or a new recipe. You can even decorate Mama and her kitchen! Everything can be changed, from the color of the appliances and the kitchen background to Mama's apron. You can even give Mama a tiara and wacky sunglasses!

A wonderful addition to Cooking Mama 2 is the option to choose a character to cook for. Characters are added as special bonuses. With this addition, you can practice cooking for Mama, Papa, the kids or grandparents, and a good meal will earn you more bonuses. Cooking Mama 2 is an awesome game with tons of recipes. Most show the Japanese culture like the bento box lunch, sushi and fried octopus dumplings. Whatever you crave, readers, Cooking Mama 2 can make it with a little help from you!—Sara F., Gr 10, Floral Park Memorial High School, New York
