Most of the sites related to Hispanic Heritage Month are for preteens. The most popular ones include “Celebrate Hispanic Heritage” from Scholastic and “Maya & Miguel” from PBS Kids. The folks at Gale and Cengage Learning, however, have created this excellent Web site specifically for teens.
Start by clicking on “Biographies,” where you’ll find more than 50, not only of important political and literary figures, but also of popular culture icons, such as Christine Aguilera, Selena, and Wilmer Valderrama. Teens looking for specific facts related to Hispanic history will find tons of them by clicking on the “Timeline,” which covers 1492 to the present. “Music,” a topic not often found on other Hispanic heritage sites, covers different musical styles, including corrido, música norteña, salsa, tejano, and Latin pop.
