Three Halloween Treats

Next week kids will be carving pumpkins and figuring out what they'll be for halloween. They’ll also start anticipating the sweet and gooey treats they’ll receive. Why not provide the kids in your library with three sweet Halloween games as well? The audio for these games is great so, if possible, provide kids with headphones or dare to let them use your computer speakers in order to get the full effect.
The first treat, “Pumpkin Patch Blast” (www.cbc.ca/kids/games/pumpkinblast/), starts out easy, but quickly gets challenging. All kids have to do is click on the pumpkins, as they grow, to gather points—but watch out! They grow pretty quickly, and when they get too large they explode. Also, watch out for rats that carry the pumpkins away—you lose the game if a rat escapes with one.
In “Gruella’s Grubfest” (www.cbc.ca/kids/games/grubfest/), kids have to help Gruella drop candy treats off her balcony to a hoard of hungry monsters. If kids get candy into the monster’s bags they earn points—but if they miss too many bags, the monsters will get cranky and egg Gruella’s house. Kids also need to watch the clock to make sure they don’t run out of candy too soon!
The third treat is “Shüger’s Rush” (www.cbc.ca/kids/games/shugersrush/). Kids have to help Shüger catch the candy that’s launched at him—but watch out for airborne rats. This one's a real challenge! Set up a competition to see who can get the highest score (or who can catch the most rats).
