The American Library Association's midwinter meeting, the first major library event of the year, kicks off next week in Boston, and one session you won't want to miss is the Young Adult Library Services Association's "Best Books for Young Adults" on Saturday, January 16. Nothing beats hearing enthusiastic teen readers dish on their favorite reads of the past year. SLJTeen will be there scouting out the teen presenters, hoping to find the next group to take over our teen reviews in June. Hope to see you in Beantown! —Dodie Ownes, editor

It wasn’t until I had a group project that I got my first taste of what Google Wave can do. more » » »

  • Wear It… and Read It: Emily the Strange
Seen that distinctive image of a scowling girl with black hair, blunt-cut bangs, and almond-shaped eyes on T-shirts and handbags sported by teens? The brainchild of Rob Reger and his company, Cosmic Debris, Emily the Strange, a fictional counterculture character, first appeared in the early 1990s on stickers and hand-screened T-shirts. more » » »
