Accenting the Positive

Staff -- School Library Journal, 4/1/2001

The Sagebrush Corporation and Sirsi have teamed up to create Accent, a centralized library management system for K-12 school districts. Accent lets students access their districts' library catalogs online, either from school or from home. Typically, explains product manager Amy Meyer, each school in a district has had to install and manage its own library automation system. "Whenever they added a new system or upgraded their system, the technology people had to go from site to site, which could be a huge burden," Meyer says. Accent features a Web-based public access catalog, which lets kids access a district-wide union catalog. They can place holds on materials, put in for interlibrary loan requests, or access the Web.
