2001 Audie Awards: Children's titles, ages 0–7, Ouch! by Natalie Babbitt, illustrated by Fred Marcellino, read by Martin Jarvis (Live Oak Media, 2000); children's titles, ages 8 and up: The Subtle Knife, read by Philip Pullman and a full cast (Random/Listening Library, 2000); solo narration, male: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling, read by Jim Dale (Random/Listening Library, 2000).

2001 Elizabeth Burr Award for a Wisconsin author/illustrator:Kathleen Krull for Lives of Extraordinary Women (Harcourt, 2000). Presented by the Wisconsin Library Association for distinguished achievement in children's literature.
