Playaway for Tots

By Staff -- School Library Journal, 11/1/2007

Weston Woods and Playaway have created the first line of preloaded digital audiobooks for the early childhood and primary school market. Available to school and public libraries, the Playaways include new and classic titles such as Jane Yolen’s How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night? (Blue Sky Press, 2003) and Harry G. Allard and James Marshall’s Miss Nelson Is Missing (Houghton, 1977), and they’re narrated by actors such as Meryl Streep and Forest Whitaker. Each comes preloaded with several stories, and there are no cassettes, CDs, or downloads. All you have to do is plug in earbuds.
