Monday is DOLF Day.
April 14, 2008
Everyone needs a pick-me-up on Mondays. Even bloggers. With that in mind, I started an informal survey of funny library-related blog posts, just for fun. At the same time, one of my mentors pointed out to me that it's easier to blog when you have assigned yourself a topic for the day. AHAH! There is an easier way to be the good little blogger I always wanted to be! That's when the two ideas overlapped in my brain, and here we are. I'm officially declaring Mondays my Day of Library-related Funnies, or "Dolf Day."
I started with your basic google search. Google came up with about 376,000 entries relating to the search "librar* blog." However, I'm on page twelve, and I've only found three worth bookmarking. In fact, the best way to find library-related blogs seems to be finding blogs with links to other blogs in them. Thank goodness one of those three had library-related links in it! With my growing list of funny and/or informative library-related blogs to peruse, I'm actually getting excited about Mondays. I'm thinking what fun I'll have finding and adding new links to my list for the next Dolf Day!
You can look forward to more little gems like this one from
http://lovetheliberry.blogspot.com/ every Monday from now on. And, if you have one that YOU just have to share, please do. I'm sure we could all use the laugh. Especially if we've had similar experiences ourselves... All I ask is that you change the names to keep things friendly.

Step 1: Stop Stealing
Today I found a ripped out barcode in the stacks.
I scanned it in and found that the stolen book was called
How to Clear Your Adult and Juvenile Criminal Records.
Also, for those of you who find ancient scientific knowledge as mysterious and cool as I do... I found this awesome YouTube video about how many men it takes to raise a modern Stonehenge. You want to hear the narrator for this, and it takes about five minutes to watch the whole thing. I classify it as library-related by virtue of its informative and educational possibilities. Also, I found the link on a librarian's blog, so there.

Librarian of Fortune for that one!
