The new McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology 10th edition, the free MHEST site, and a new look for AccessScience
July 31, 2007
As you may already know, the printed 10th edition of the McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology is now available (with a discounted price through September 30th). What you may not yet know about is www.AccessScience.com/MHEST, a free website McGraw Hill has created as an online companion to the printed encyclopedia. This site is targeted at librarians, students, teachers, and researchers, and is updated regularly, with a Spotlight feature, a What’s New section (that outlines content new to the 10th edition), and Supplemental Articles (here’s an example) updating important articles written since the latest release of the EST. And just in case you haven’t cottoned onto it, the McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology has been one of my favorite reference resources since I was a baby librarian – it makes science and technology accessible and understandable to this humanist (and the patrons I’ve steered to it).
On the horizon: a madeover version of McGraw-Hill’s AccessScience, with an updated new look and feel, will be available by the end of August, with free trials obtainable through this link. AccessScience, an online product, consists of the beloved McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology (EST), research updates from the McGraw-Hill Yearbooks of Science & Technology, and the McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms, with related information.
Look for my review of the madeover AccessScience in LJ soon.
More as it happens,
Cheryl
